All about the Thai cuisine
Thai cuisine is well known around the world. In Thailand having food is nothing less than an experience. Since the 13th century, Thai food has been famous. While, other cuisines include starters, Thai food does not believe in having starters before dinner. Having food alone is not considered to be good so they eat in groups and order different dishes for every body. Thai food consists mainly of rice and noodles and does not require a fork and knife to cut food items. Thai people generally have a habit of having one food item at a single time.
Thai food generally includes a lot of garlic, chilly, lime juice, lemon grass, fresh coriander, fish sauce, shrimp paste. Rice is used with almost every meal by Thai people.
Just like any country has several cities and the food taste differs, here in Thailand also food items and taste is different according to areas. For instance, the north part of Thailand does not prefer sweet food items. They like mild/hot and salty/sour food. In the central part hot, salty, sweet, sour taste is liked. In the northeast portion, salads are loved and hot, salty, sour food is liked. South of Thailand loves curries and very hot, salty and sour food. While the people from north side like to have sticky type rice, the central region prefers aromatic rice.
If you are fond of Thai food you can try out this simple recipe: Pad Thai noodles. Just a matter of 25 minutes and you are ready with your meal. You will require 175g flat rice noodles, 3.5 tbsp sunflower oil, 12 large raw prawns peeled with the tail shells left on, 2 garlic cloves sliced, half a red chilly de-seeded and sliced, 2 medium eggs beaten, 3 tbsp fish sauce, juice of one lime, 1 tbsp light muscovado sugar, 4 tbsp roasted cashew nuts, 6 spring onions sliced on the diagonal and 50g bean sprouts.
After cooking the noodles, take out the water and out half tbsp oil in it. While heating the oil in another pan, put the prawns and fry for one and a half minutes. Later put in garlic and chilly and cook for thirty seconds. Then add the beaten eggs and fry. Finally add the noodles, fish sauce, lime juice and sugar toss for about a minute. Before serving add cashews, spring onions and bean sprouts to it.
